Aero Club, Inc.Condor and EAA Chapter 857 co-sponsored a display at this year's Wings Over Pittsburgh airshow sponsored by the 911th Airlift Wing at the Pittsburgh International Airport (KPIT). With the record attendance (175,000 Saturday and 125,000 Sunday), we had a constant flow thru our booth where we answered questions about learning to fly, the Club & EAA Chapter, as well as aviation in general. N684SP was on-hand as a display aircraft, which drew folks into the booth to have a look at a "little airplane". In addition to the show itself, the Condor & EAA members who staffed & setup the booth got to experience an arrival & departure from KPIT.
The theme of the show was "Celebrating Patriotism", and this was evident by the interest in the many military aircraft displays (C-130, B-52, F/A-18, etc.) as well as the airshow by the Air Force Thunderbirds. We also hope everyone at the show learned a little more about General Aviation...maybe we even helped inspire a few folks to learn to fly.
